Author and historian Dave Drummond will give lectures on Oak Island and the Titanic at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in August.

Mr. Drummond, author of The Shipyard: Will It Float?, is a retired shipbuilder, born into a shipbuilding family that spanned three generations. His anecdotal writings, narrations, and discussions are factual, often surprising, and sprinkled with humor.

On Tuesday, Aug. 4, he will examine the legend of the Oak Island Money Pit and how the lure of wealth has led to numerous injuries and fatalities on the island over the years.

In his talk Ice meets Steel on Tuesday, Aug. 11, Mr. Drummond will consider the construction of the ill-fated ocean liner RMS Titanic and how its builders may have contributed to its demise in 1912.

Both lectures will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Small Craft Gallery. Admission is free but donations to Feed Nova Scotia are accepted.

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, located at 1675 Lower Water St., Halifax, is part of the Nova Scotia Museum family.
